David Byrns Obituary

David Byrns was born on November 25, 1940 in Alamosa, Colorado to Ernest and Tessie Byrns. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, his stepdaughter Susie Rodgers, son-in-law John Rodgers, granddaughter Camryn Rodgers, stepson Bill Pennington, brother Jim Byrns and wife Kathy of Danville, CA, and nephews Geoff Byrns, Brad Byrns, David Rumberg and Tom Rumberg. David was a resident of Sacramento for 62 years. He served in the US Army combat infantry, and was honorably discharged. He earned a Bachelor's degree in history from Sacramento State University, beginning a lifelong search for truth in events. He was an outstanding administrator for the federal government and each year received the highest evaluations for his work. He had "integrity", said his colleagues and their "respect." He was also a longtime supporter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization as well as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. David was distinctly American. He was intensely individual yet lived by the rules, worked hard, loved his family and respected others. He believed in God and prepared himself for heaven. David lived courageously in the last years of his life. He will be forever loved.

Dearest Barbara and family: It was a great privilege to have known Dave, albeit a short time. He will be missed. Barbara, dear friend, I know you will find comfort in the memories of all the wonderful times you shared, and in knowing that you were there for him when he needed you the most. Our prayers are with you. Mary & Gary
