David DALZELL Obituary

DALZELL, David
Died suddenly May 22, 2011 in Placerville, CA. Born in Santa Barbara where he lived until moving to Sacramento. In 1970 he bought property in El Dorado, CA, where he built his home and resided there with his wife Mary until his death.
David was employed by Santa Barbara Yachts before moving to Sacramento where he joined the railroad industry: initially with Sacramento Northern, subsequently Western Pacific and finally Union Pacific where he remained until retiring.
David was a very kind and gentle man and will be greatly missed. As one grandson put it he will miss talking to his grandpa and hearing all his stories. He had a great sense of humor, always teasing and kidding.
Preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Margaret Dalzell, and his daughter Deborah. Survived by loving wife Mary, children Gerald, Suzanne (Ronald McKenna), and Michael; nine grandchildren: Ryan, Danielle (Cory), Jaymie, Benjamin, Jason, Justin, Brandon (Alison), Travis (Joamu), Nathan (Chenoa), and nine great grandchildren Nathaniel, Chloe, Colson, Cori, Elizabeth, Michael, Hannah, Daniel, and Brayden. Also survived by sisters Diane, Gail and Alinda, and various nieces and nephews.
No formal funeral is scheduled. A memorial will be held at his home Saturday. Following this, at a undetermined date, there will be a graveside service in Southern California.

Memories of times with my cousin David:
Climbing the loquat tree at house on Tornoe Road and eating the yummy fruit.
Catching lizards and putting them in a paper bag during a family picnic at Paradise Camp. (The adults did not think that was funny).
Fun at all the family picnics with our cousins.
Good Bye David. Rest in peace.
