"The true gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity or sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe..." Dave Elliot was a true gentleman.

My heart has been saddened all week long over the tragic death of David. My thoughts and prayers are with you, his wonderful family. The memorial service you planned in honor of David was extraordinary and very beautiful! David always exemplified the "Fruits of the Spirit," and I will always remember the times we shared the Lord's goodness together. Our loss is Heaven's gain; those who knew David will miss him but we won't forget him, and as Christians, we can look forward, knowing that we will see him again. Dave and Bonnie and your family, I know that is your hope. May God comfort your hearts and give you strength until that glorious day.

I just found out about Dave's death & was very shocked. I did not find out in time to attend his services. I had the honor of working with Dave at David J. Elliot & Sons. He was a very nice person. My deepest sympathy goes to all of the Elliot Family. My prayers are always with you.

David was very good to me the two summers I spent working for the family as a young boy. He certainly made a lasting impression on me for his patience and kindness in addition to being a true gentleman. I’m traveling on business and won’t be able to attend tomorrow’s service but my prayers will be with all of you.
With deepest sympathy,

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of David III. I was priviliged to get to know David when he worked at Mt. Konocti Growers in Kelseyville. ( I was the Assistant Office Manager.) I adopted him as one of my own. He was always a gentleman: thoughtful, courteous and just a special guy. In later years he would always stop by to visit when he was in the area. Ironically my own son, Richard, went to work for Elliott & Sons driving forklift during the 90's. David was so good to him. My heart felt sympathy and prayers go out to all of you. May your memories help sustain you and give you peace. God bless you all.

We were so sad to hear of Dave's passing. He was like a big brother to us growing up in the delta. He was always watching out for Deann and myself. He had a big heart and a big smile. Our thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family.

Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the entire Elliot Family. David was a true gentleman, honest and truly trustworthy. I played a round of golf with David many years ago in Long Beach (we were both marginal at best but had many laughs over the years remembering...)and we had a wonderful time getting to know one another. He exhibited great leadership skills while at the California Grape and Tree Fruit League. David will be on our prayer card along with his family. God Bless.

Words cannot truly express our sense of loss on David's passing. He was chairman of the California Grape & Tree Fruit League when I was hired and represented the very best kind of leader the industry had to offer. On behalf of the League's membership, our sincere condolences and prayers to his family and loved ones. You will be missed good friend.

I was so sorry to hear of David's death. It seems like yesterday that I was baby-sitting. I did get to see him not too long ago and was surprised and glad he even remembered me. I can only imagine the pain you must be going through. Due to an emergency with my own son, I cannot make the services, but just want you to know I'm thinking of you and sending my love to you all.
