David Sean Farley, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on August 14, 2025, after a six-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was 56 years old.
Born in Sacramento, California, David is survived by his brother, William Farley; sisters-in-law, Nanette Farley and Shannon Farley; his nieces, Lauren Farley, and Catherine Farley and her husband, Sawyer White; grandnephews, Liam and Oliver Farley; and his Aunt Darlene and Uncle Joe Farls. He also leaves behind his beloved rabbit, Carrot, and his treasured BMW 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, James O. Farley and Marlyn A. (Barnett) Farley, and brothers, James T. Farley and Thomas G. Farley.
A proud alumnus of Country Day School in Sacramento, David lettered in baseball, where his team set a record for wins that can be tied but never broken. He later pursued higher education at the University of Southern California, earning a degree in public administration, and completed his master's in public administration at Golden State University.
Throughout his 30-year professional career, David served urban and rural local governments, school districts, nonprofits, and corporations, helping secure more than $32 million in new projects and guiding the regulatory compliance of over $200 million in federal funds. His work was featured in national publications including Forbes and the Chronicle of Philanthropy. At the time of his passing, he was a proud member of the grants team at the California Fire Safe Council.
David was deeply committed to community life, volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol in high school, serving on the board of the Volunteer Center of Sacramento, and serving as both volunteer and board member for the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. He also organized annual Empowerment Forums in Las Vegas, drawing a participant (his brother Bill) from across the country to discuss nothing.
Finally, David was an R2D2 fanboy who sported a "LUVR2D2" license plate. And like his beloved astromech droid, David was a loyal companion who never gave up on his friends. He loved rooting for the San Francisco Giants with the unwavering devotion of R2 following Luke across the galaxy. He was in Candlestick with his brother Tim when the earthquake hit. He travelled across the country to see the Giants play in different ballparks-each stadium a new planet to explore. He also loved classic cars, Guinness, and Seinfeld reruns. Online, he was known as @TheVegasProphet, dispensing betting wisdom that was more Jar Jar than Jedi but always entertaining. His final transmission: A replay of Barry Bonds smashing #756 with the call to "Put him in the HOF!" His circuits may have powered down, but his spirit continues to beep and whistle in the hearts of all who knew him.
Beep boop beep - Until we meet again in a galaxy far, far away.
