JULIE PORTER
September 24, 2004
It has been 3 weeks since I last held my brother David. He had accepted the fact that he was never going to grow old with us, and on September 3, 2004 he peacefully transitioned from here to a place unknown to us. In retrospect I can truly appreciate his existence. I always felt fortunate to have him in my life, he was an indescribably atypical human being. It's not enough to say that he was loving and caring, although he was. He always thought of others and could easily make friends. Some of his friends became part of our family and will always have a place in my heart. Despite the fact that he lived with a terminal disease for 14 years, he managed to maintain a positive attitude. He loved to laugh, play, and have fun. His attitude was carefree and his spirit was young. He was a determined young man. He had goals and dreams, some of which he fulfilled. He was organized and paid close attention to detail and wanted things a "certain way". David taught me many valuable lessons, the most important was to never give up. When life seemed hopeless he would say "I'm having a good day". He also reminded me that family was paramount. He was the youngest of three, but at times took care of Rick and I as if he were the oldest. Rick, my brother recently described our relationship as three little kittens. Always there for each other, sticking close together. We miss our littlest kitten, but we will always be three. Enjoy the dance David !! I love you, Julie

David was an extrordinary person. We have been lucky enough to be close friends with David for the past 5 years. We all helped each other get thru some of the most difficult ordeals anyone will face in life. As well, we had some of the greatest times together.
Dave is sorely missed and his passing has put a large hole in our lives which will never be filled with anything but the memory of him.
Our heartfelt condolances to his family. Sadly, we didn't have the opportunity to meet all of you, but we felt as if we knew you all through David.
And finally to David, wherever you are:
There is a spirit here that won't be broken
Some words are sad to say
Some leave me tongue-tied
(But the hardest thing to tell you)
(But) The hardest words I know
Are I love you goodbye
I love you, goodbye
From Thomas Dolby's song "I Love You, Goodbye" (c)

P.S.: May David forever burn "doughnuts" unfettered, in his GT, in parking lots on balmy Summer Sunday afternoons!

I only knew David through my sister and brother-in-law. He was their neighbor, and I had the pleasure of talking with him many times when he was out working on his patio. He was so proud of his home and worked so hard to make it beautiful. We were so sad to hear of his death and wished to express our sympathy to David's family and friends.

My prayers and condolences go out to the family of David Sault. I hope in some way my prayers and thoughts can give you comfort.
I am sadden by David’s passing but happy that I did get the opportunity to know this extraordinary individual. The short time that I spent with David changed my life so much .. David shared a wonderful compassion for life and all things around him .. I only wish that I could of crossed paths with David sooner so that I could of know him better. It is rare in this world that one comes across a human being so full of life and the willingness to share every bit of his soul with everyone that he meets. David I will miss you so much, however I will cherish the short times that we did spend together and keep all of my memories of your glorious smile in my heart forever.
