Dave Schmitz was a good friend in High School, so many years ago. When I heard of Daves early passing from a friend I was truly saddened. Dave was always very kind. I will always have great memories of the many crazy weekends we spent out causing trouble and just staying outside of fates grasp. R.I.P Dave

I knew David in high school my fondest memory of him was during our class trip to Hurst Castle, Universal Studios and his crazy antics poolside at the motel. He definitely was the most caring and sweetest person I have known. His presence on this earth will truly be missed.

I am sitting in a very high, nice hotel room in Spokane, Washington, looking out over this city. It is nighttime, with the broad Spokane River below. This is a wonderful view to gaze out upon and think about Dave Schmitz. I was a very close friend some years ago of Dave's. He was a very kind and considerate person. He was very gentle. With Dave, I think what counted was simply friendship and, attendantly, close devotion of friends to each other. He loved being a member of a group, of having a clique, and he was generous in his support of others. Dave was a young man who could get excited about ideas and doing things together. He was a very easy-going person to spend time with, which was a great trait in high school and beyond. I already missed him, and I will continue to do so.

I was just thinking of Davo the other day at Isubune, the Japanese restaurant where the little boats deliver sushi. Davo, the ever-generous guy that he was, treated a bunch of us to sushi on New Year's Day in San Francisco many moons ago. Happy memories of Davo will live on while he rests in peace.

I remember first that Dave was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I hadn't seen Dave in years, but I remember the golf team, his Mustang and GTO, his giant Klipsch speakers in his room at his parents home, going out on Fridays and Saturdays with Dave, Paul Violett, John Reese and Keith Chidlaw, his friend Jennie Murray, his wedding to Debbie, his Fish Club buddies (Gary, Bodes, etc.) and his first house on Browning. Dave was a bit legendary for landing his car in some guys home during a wild weekend in high school. I'm sorry to see such a nice guy go so young.
