David Smith Obituary

David Martin Smith, also known occasionally as Justin Other Smith, a longtime Fair Oaks Village resident, dog-walker, and BS-er, has walked his last walk through the Village. He loved the Village and would have liked to say goodbye personally, but just didn't get around to everyone. David was born Sept 21, 1937, in South Shore, Kentucky, where he had a "Tom Sawyer" childhood. In 1960, he set out for California with his beloved wife, Milly Rose. By 1964, they had landed in Fair Oaks, where they lived happily ever after. David used to tell people that God told him that He was fresh out of talent, so He gave David blue eyes, dimples, and the gift of gab and that Dave would have to make that work as best he could. Which he did to the very end, as evidenced by his prolific blogging and notebooks filled with poetry, songs, and several novels. David died of heartbreak two months to the day after the passing of his cherished Milly Rose. He is survived by daughters, Kellye (Ashby), Gina (Andrew), Cary (Robert) and son David II, grandchildren Benjamin, Emily, and Sophie, and brothers John, James, and Bill, and Dave's faithful companion Willie the dog. Services will be private, but if you'd like to raise a toast in his honor, he preferred Mexican beer and Irish toasts.

May God Comfort the Smith family in the loss of David as only God can. Even though we have all been separated since High School, thanks to Social Media and phones we have been able to stay connected as if time stood still. We will miss those wonderful stories, the midnight calls and great wit he possessed. RIP OUR DEAR FRIEND

This is hard for me to write, I have known Dave since the 1st grade, We good friends and buddies all thru school and joined the Air Force together. We have not seen one another in the past 63 years but he was still almost like a brother to me, and I will miss Dave & Millie as long as I live, just wish we could have spent more time together.

His friends here in Ky. will miss his friendship. Even though they were many miles away, in talking with him it was like he was having a cup of coffee with us or should I say a beer? May you find comfort in knowing your Dad is at peace and at home with his Beloved MillyRose.
