Derek McGriff Obituary
MCGRIFF, Derek Tyree
Was born in Oakland, CA, and passed away in Sacto. on June 12, 2006. Derek's quick smile, interest in people, and engaging manner netted him friends' where-ever he went. As the director of Freedom Homes, he served his community and enriched the lives of many by offering a safe haven to men recovering from substance abuse. Although challenged by his own health problems, Derek was also a ministry leader of the Faithful Recovery Group and a huge, positive presence in his home, and for family and friends. To the very end, Derek displayed strength, courage, belief in God, and love. He will be missed more than words can say by his wife, Lisa Lacy-McGriff, his mother, Gwendolyn McGriff, his daughters, Silvia and Eychelle McGriff, his son-in-law, Ushuan Bobino and his grandchildren, Ronnita Smith and Shaun Bobino. The viewing will be held on June 20, 2006, from 3-7 p.m. at Morgan Jones Funeral Home, 4200 Broadway. The funeral will be held on June 21, 2006 at 12:00 (noon), Faith Fellowship Community Church, 5937 Watt Avenue, North Highlands. Interment will follow the services at Camelia Memorial Lawn.

May GOD always be with you. Girl, I feel with you now because I think of all of your many losses and Derek is the love of your life. I have never seen you more happier. Just know that God is better than good in your darkes hour, minute and times. (GOD) will touch and hold you in a mighty way now and forever. Also, my sympathy goes out to Derek's family.

Dear Liaa: I just wanted to remind you of how much all your friends love you and Derek. When Jonathan and I think of the two of you, we often reminisce about your Wedding Day, what an unforgettable memory! I remember Your Love Story, sooo... much love shared between you! I look up to you and respect your spirtual walk (Faith in God)! Remember our little talks, they mean alot to me! My Condolences and prayer's go out to you and your family, Derek will be missed! My son Robbie wants Eychelle to know that he's praying for her and your family. We all are. Please don't forget how much you are loved!
