Donald Rhyne Obituary

Donald Rhyne passed away on May 27th, 2012, in Lincoln, Calif. with his family by his side. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sept 10, 1941 to William & Jessie Rhyne. Donald retired from CalTrans and prior, worked in the automotive industry. He was a gifted handyman and there was nothing he couldn't fix, build or solve. He was a great family man and enjoyed RVing with his family and friends. After he retired he pursued his pilot's license and built his own experimental aircraft. He enjoyed flying with his buddies to nearby airports where they met for breakfast. Those who knew him will remember him as a loyal friend, great husband and father, and an all-around great guy. He is survived by his wife, Linda, son, Steven, daughter-in-law, Kelley, grandchildren Sammey and Chris La Porta, and brothers Bill and Dennis Rhyne and their families. He will be greatly missed by all. No services will be offered. Remembrances can be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

Not sure what to say?

June 11, 2012

My name is Jim Ely. I worked with Don for about a year before he retired. During the following years he always stopped in my office to say hello and talk for awhile whenever he came by. I retired the end of February and Don had stopped by a couple of weeks before to say he was going to be out of town and could not be at my party. I am glad to have known him.

Don's Family, I worked with Don at Caltrans for many years. He was a jokester for sure. We had some great times at one another. I also live in the Lincoln area and once in awhile he would sneak up behind me at the store and scare the dickens out of me and then we would talk old times for hours. My prayers are with you all. He will be missed

Linda and family, I didn't realize when I met you and Don way back when I worked at Ace Hardware, that I would continue to have a running battle of fun bantering, Don was a master at in and won hands down at being the best at it. He spoke so lovingly about you. I'm gong to miss him a lot!

I admire my dad. He lived in challenging times as a child and in his young teens, but he overcame adversity and created a lifestyle others would envy. I'm grateful for what he gave us in life and he will be greatly missed. I love you dad.
