Doris Hewitt Obituary

1912 - 2014
Doris Hewitt, 102, of Sacramento, California passed away Monday, April 21, 2014.

Doris was born on March 30th, 1912 in Williston, North Dakota to John Quamme and Helen Quamme nee Neilson, both immigrants from Norway. She eventually settled in Salem, Oregon where she spent most of her life. In her later years, she also lived in Sacramento, California.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Karlene Helen Walsh nee Quistad, (1979). Doris was preceded in death by three husbands, Carl Mathias Quistad (1960), Mayo Raymond Cole (1989), and Milo Lester Hewitt (1993).

Doris was preceded in death by six siblings; Stanley Quamme (1956), Selma Koepke (1997), Myrtle Van Ottingham(1981), Julia Stephens (2000), Ruda Quamme (2002), and Robert Quamme (2001).

She is survived by son in-law William Walsh III (Becky) of Eagle Point, Oregon. And by three grandchildren, William Walsh IV (Cynthia), Kari David (Dan), and John Walsh, as well as four great-grandchildren, William Walsh V, Regan Walsh, Dan David, and Karl David, all of Minnesota.

Doris is also survived by stepson Milo Hewitt Jr. (Patricia), and step grandchildren David Hewitt (Anne) and Paul Hewitt (Christine), as well as four great-step grandchildren, all of California.

Interment will be at Restlawn Funeral Home Memory Gardens and Mausoleum in Salem, Oregon near the resting place of her daughter.

We remember Doris as a high-energy, fun-loving grandmother, with an infectious laugh. She was not afraid to speak her mind. She made lefse with us and wasn't afraid to visit her grandkids during the harsh Wisconsin winters, indicative of her indomitable spirit.
