Evalyn Hewitt

In loving memory, we honor the beautiful life of Evalyn Hewitt, who peacefully departed from this world on March 12, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on October 6, 1944, in the quaint town of Porterdale, Georgia, Evalyn was the cherished daughter of Aubrey and Eva Singley. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the unyielding bonds of family.

On May 25, 1963, Evalyn married the love of her life, Douglas Hewitt. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey of 62 years of unwavering devotion and shared dreams. Their union was blessed with the joys and challenges of parenthood, which they embraced with open hearts and unwavering commitment.

Evalyn was the proud and loving mother of four children: Lynn Deaton, Melissa Hambright, and her daughter, Denise Hewitt, and her son Steve Hewitt who preceded her in death. Evalyn's heart was vast, and her love extended to her 14 grandchildren: Michael, Tierra, Whitney, Zane, Dylan, Morgan, Chaz, Kaleigh, Tristan, Aiden, Ashton, Cody, Justin, and Patrick. Her legacy of love and kindness continues to flourish through her great-grandchildren: Sage, Nova, Jack, Grayson, Emily, Lilly, Oaklyn, Kamryn, Eviee, Raelynn, and more to come, as the family continues to grow, building on the foundation she laid.

Evalyn's journey began in the embrace of a close-knit family, alongside her parents and beloved brother, Sam Melvin Singley, who predeceased her.

Evalyn was a beacon of grace and compassion. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of everyone she encountered. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Evalyn's capacity for love knew no bounds. Her home was a haven of warmth and joy, where laughter resonated, and love was the guiding light.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Keith Black officiating; interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
