Dorothy Saika Obituary

Dorothy Sueko Saika, born on October 24, 1913 in Milpitas, California, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2009 at the Asian Community Nursing Home at the age of 95. She is survived by her children, Gloria Imagire (Arthur), Clarence Saika (May), Teddy Saika (Elinor), Peggy Saika (Arthur Chen); daughter-in-law Elaine Saika; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Taro Saika and her sons, Richard Saika and actor Noriyuki "Pat" Morita. She is remembered for her cooking, gardening, and Japanese singing. She was a nurturing caregiver to multiple generations of family members. "Bachan" Saika led a full and rich life but will be deeply missed for her laughter, humor, and love for her family. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Asian Community Nursing Home for the wonderful loving care they provided. A private memorial service was held on Friday, September 4 at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento. On behalf of my mother Mary Lau and my spouse Bob Enright, I want to express our deepest condolences to the family of Dorothy Saika on her passing. We will miss her spirited animated presence at Asian Community Nursing Home every weekend as we visited my mother Mary Lau. We were always warmed to see Dorothy delight in the happy company of her loving and devoted family members. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.
