Douglas McKnight Obituary

Douglas Preston McKnight

August 16, 1950 - November 26, 2023

Ogden, Utah - Douglas Preston McKnight was born on August 16, 1950, in Utica, New York to the late Walter P. McKnight and Otha Lee McKnight. Douglas took his final rest on November 26, 2023, with his devoted wife, Constance Crandle McKnight at his side. Their union lasted 52 years. From this union three sons were born, Douglas Preston Jr, Philip Prescott, Denise Patrick, and their adopted daughter Nicole Gooden.

Douglas attended Hiram Johnson High School, class of 1969 in Sacramento, California. It was there that he met the love of his life Constance Crandle, class of 1970. At Hiram Johnson, Doug was active in the ROTC program.

Douglas and Constance married on April 20,1971 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In 1971 he also joined the United States Air Force, and he and his new bride moved to Texas. After basic training Douglas was stationed in Turkey where they lived for two years. After serving in the reserves Douglas started working for the United States Postal Service in 1975, and later transfer to McCellan Air Force Base. In 1999 Doug and Connie moved to Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah. Douglas retired after 30 years of service.

Douglas enjoyed going to air shows, taking long drives, and playing Bid Whist with his brother-in-law and best friend, the late Eddie Roberson.

Douglas leaves to mourn and forever cherish his memory, brother Steven Lee McKnight (Nola); sons Douglas Jr., Philip and Dennis; daughter Nicole; sisters-in-law Miriam Roberson, Robbin Lewis-Coaxum, Melanie Lewis-Carney, Ashley Crandle Streeter, Allison Crandle, and Anthony Jefferson; three grandchildren, ShKala, TreLeon, Ariana; four great-grandchildren; five nephews and four nieces.

Douglas was daddy, grandpa, great-grandpa, and Godfather. He was not only our foundation, but he was also the strongest representative of a man. He was always available to educate, guide and nourish his family. Doug joined the ancestors and received his wings. Until we meet again. Rest Well!

Douglas Preston McKnight Sr. will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California on May 23, 2025.
