CAMPBELL, Edgar William

Aka: Chaplain Ed Campbell, he passed away on June 19, 2013 of cancer. He was born on September 11, 1918. He was preceded in death by his son David Campbell and his daughter Beverly Kaia-Bracamonte. He is survived by his wife Betty Ruth Campbell, his brother Oscar Campbell, his sister Annabell Cantwell, and his children Sharon and Avelino Olanio, Sue Zoller, Janis Cooper, Alana and Rocky Forster, Michael and Denisa Myrick and Daniel and Shelly Myrick.

He was retired from Aerojet where he was active as a Union Steward. He worked on the Apollo Missiles that went to the Moon. He was a graduate of Chapman Bible College. At one time he was a volunteer Chaplain at UC Davis Medical Center. He later became a missionary in Kenya and the Ukraine. He loved playing his guitar and singing for anyone who would listen. He enjoyed swimming in the American River where he once drowned and was resuscitated by a teenage boy who learned CPR from watching 'Bay Watch' on TV. You may have seen him handing out free Bibles in Old Town Sacramento which he paid for himself. He was active in the Union Gospel Mission for the Homeless up until his death. He attended Capitol Christian Church. He accepted his own death knowing that he was going on to a better place. There will be a graveside service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, in Elk Grove, on June 26 at 10:30 A.M. Family and friends are welcome. Following the service there will be a celebration of life at Church of the LDS, 8925 Valley Park Dr. Sacto. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Union Gospel Mission, on Bannon Street.
