Edith "Edie" Decker

Edie Decker entered into rest on Friday, June 24, 2016, holding the hands of her children and her twin sister. Edie suffered a stroke and heart attack during our annual family reunion at Big Sur. Edie was born to Margo and Jim Myers on April 9th, 1935, in Escondido, CA. Edie attended Fullerton Junior College and the University of California, Berkeley. She taught kindergarten briefly before leaving to raise her family. In the late 70's, Edie resumed her career and taught pre-school until her retirement in 2007. Edie met the love of her life, Tom Decker, in 1957, as he was leaving for the Navy. Upon his return, they had their first official date on the 4th of July in 1959. They married on December 20, 1959. Their's was a lifelong love affair, continuing beyond Tommy's death in 1999. She is survived by her children, Debbie Decker and husband, Steve Mauritz, and Dave Decker and wife, Sarah Foley. She is also survived by her twin sister, Judy Sprague, and brother-in-law, John Decker. Grandchildren, Tyler Mauritz, and wife Genevieve, Sydney Mauritz, Thomas and Mary Katherine Decker, and great-grandsons, Deegan and Parker Hutchinson, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will miss Grammy/Edie Grammy very much. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday morning, July 23, 2016, at 10:00AM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 2140 Mission Ave, Carmichael, CA.
