Edward Burt Obituary

Retired Sacramento Police Lieutenant Edward L. (Ed) Burt passed away on March 26, 2014 in Aptos, CA. He was born on Dec. 9, 1928 in Sacramento. Ed attended school in Marysville and Sacramento. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 and joined the Sacramento Police Department in 1951. He was best-known for developing an outstanding model for conducting sting operations. Ed retired to Santa Cruz in 1983, where he met and married LaVera Wilkins Burt. Predeceased by his parents Ed and Nellie Burt, and his eldest son Edward R. Burt. He leaves his wife, LaVera Burt, of Aptos; his son Michael Burt and granddaughter Courtney Burt, of the Sacramento area; and his stepsons Tim and Dan Wilkins, and their families, of Santa Cruz area.

Amazing in that I totally Loved Aunt Nellie and Uncle Ed. I learned to type on Uncle Ed's typewriter. And when I got married, my first couch was theirs. I just heard of Ed's death tonight, and my condolences to the family and the ol' - How did we loose touch. I have cousins....
