BARTON, Ethel Freda
Aug 29, 1921 - Aug 29, 2006

Ethel Freda Barton was born in Bremerton, Washington, the daughter of Carl E. Peterson and Helen E. Peterson (Gustafson). She graduated from Bremerton High School (1939), the University of Puget Sound and San Francisco State.

She married Everett H. Barton Jr. in San Jose, CA on August 28, 1960. They lived in several California state locations before settling in West Sacramento. Ethel loved California and reluctantly moved to Longview, WA in July 2005 to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett (Bart), and her niece, Michele Viveiros. She is survived by her sister Norma Card of Bremerton WA, nephew William A. Card (wife Karen) of Dumfries VA, and seven grandnieces and grand nephews. Other surviving family members include brother-in-law John S. Barton (wife Irene) of Vancouver, WA, brother-in-law Charles A. Barton (wife Mary Lee) of Vienna, VA, sister-in-law Elisabeth (Betty) Perrin of LaConner, WA, and sister-in-law Barbara E. Barton of Longview, WA.

Ethel had many loyal and long time friends. Her intelligence, sense of humor, upbeat attitude and kindness made her a delight to be with. She enjoyed sending and receiving cards and letters. She had a strong appreciation of beauty and creativity which showed in her love of gardening, reading and art. Many of her friends and family have paintings that she had done. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of West Sacramento, CA.
