Fred Shimizu Obituary

SHIMIZU, Fred Minoru
May 7, 1917-Oct 4, 2006 Fred Minoru Shimizu, 89, of Sacramento died peacefully at home Wednesday to join Ruth his beloved wife of 64 years. He was born in Stockton, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service. Fred served in the Army, 442 Regiment as a medic during World War II and was an active member of the Veteran of Foreign War, Post 8985. He was a graduate of Placer Union High School in Auburn, CA and had many friends and relatives in Placer County as well as in Sacramento. He belonged to the Hiroshima Kenjinkai of the Buddhist Church. His favorite pastime was playing golf and poker with his buddies. Survivors include his son, Alfred Shimizu; brothers Larry Shimizu and Tom Shimizu; and many nieces and nephews. Services: A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, 2401 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento. Interment: Private.
