Frederick Douglas ""Pop"" Cole

Frederick D. "Pop" Cole went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2016, after a long illness.  He fought a good fight, but God wanted him to come home, where he is at peace.  Fred gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was a faithful member of the Long Branch Baptist Church until his health began to decline.  Fred truly loved his church family and friends and life itself.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Etta and son Tony, whom he truly loved.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters Patricia Williams of Spotsylvania and Myra Lewis (Dale) of Stafford, two sons Connie Cole and Rocky Cole, both of Spotsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Robinson of Michigan and Theresa Hicks of New York; ten grandchildren, Fred Cole, Jr. (Tabitha) of Florida, David Cole (Michele) of Georgia, Taylor Milligan, Danay Lewis, and Dale Lewis, Jr. of Hawaii, Erica Williams, Dion (Antonia), Ashley Cole, Shaneeka Cole, and Kyle Cole; four great-grandchildren, Toni, Tori, Andrio, and Courtney; and two great-great-grandchildren Ace and Eva; one special friend, Mrs. Dorothy Fortune and a cousin who was more like a daughter, Michele Byrd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held at A. L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, on Friday, December 30, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral at 11 a.m. on December 31, 2016, at Long Branch Baptist Church, Woodford, VA.
