Entered into eternal rest on May 8, 2012, in Rocklin, CA at the age of 84. She courageously lost her battle with heart disease and cancer, and is survived by her two remaining children Dana and Francine Larson. Jan is also survived by her sister Catherine Newby and 8 grandchildren.
Jan was born on March 2, 1928 in Regent, ND and grew up on a small farm with her many sisters and brothers. Later, she met Morris Larson while he was back from deployment from WWII, and were married. They lived in Regent for a few years before they moved to the Bay Area in the early 1950s. Jan is fondly remembered for her recipe creations at her family owned establishment, Jan's Deli in Menlo Park, CA and found great joy in cooking Sunday dinners, a tradition carried on. She was known to have a quick wit, an opinion about everything, and gave insightful advice. In her later years she enjoyed traveling, visiting her friends and family, cooking, playing cards, and soaking up the sunshine. A woman of many words, she is truly missed.
Jan was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 60 years Morris Larson, and two sons Lansford Lynn and Larry Morris. Also preceded in death are her brothers and sisters; Jack and Harry Wilhelm, Frances Traub, Rozalyn Goffredsen, Paula Baldock, and Marie Bayman.
Private services were held at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA. In lieu of flowers, your contributions can be made to Jan's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
