George Dobynes

Sacramento, California - George Dobynes passed away peacefully at home with family, November 17, 2021. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Hannelore Dobynes, sons Georgie and Henry (Hank), parents Preston and Lela Dobynes, brothers Murl, James, Obie and Joe, and grandson, Matthew. George is survived by his loving daughters Dee Dee Dobynes and Sandy Dominguez (husband Paul); eleven grandchildren: Dee Dee's son, Reggie; Sandy and Paul's children, Drew and Anneliese; Hank's children, Stephanie (Stuffy), J.R. (wife Micah), Darrick, Geenah, Katrina, Lena, Hanna and Toni (husband Brian); thirteen great-grandchildren: Sasha, GeNaye, Gregory, Brandon, Jorge Jr., Alonzo, Sofia, Ana, Jelani, Milan, Darrick, Malachi and Eddie; three great-great grandchildren: Greyson, Ace and Dominic; and a host of family and friends.
Born in Perry County, Alabama, March 25, 1927, George was first drafted into the U.S. Army and later enlisted in the USAF, serving over 21 years. He met the love of his life, his "LoLo," in Germany at the age of 19. After living in Germany, France, and on Edwards Air Force Base in California, they eventually settled in Sacramento, California to raise their family. George went on to work for the California Department of Corrections, Folsom State Prison, and retired after 20 years.
George was greatly devoted to his family and leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He was a man of incredible integrity with a tremendous work ethic and quiet and playful sense of humor. Known for treating everyone as his equal regardless of circumstance, he was admired by all who knew him. George will be missed by all and forever in our hearts.
In keeping with George's wishes, no memorial service will be held.
