George Stassi

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our father, George Lauren Stassi, on October 10, 2025. George was born in Sacramento, California on May 7, 1936, to Guiseppe and Victoria Stassi. He was the youngest of three. Predeceased by his brother, Jack, and his sister, Nina.

As a child, George enjoyed swimming at the McKinley Park pool. He also enjoyed watching films at the Alhambra Theatre.

He attended Marshall Elementary School and Sacramento High School. As a teenager, he worked in a butcher shop. He attended Sacramento City College for two years where he received his AA.

George married Janice Blake in 1956. They had three children (Rick, Ken, & Stephanie) and settled in Roseville, California. George had an impressive career that included Aerojet, Formica Plant, and NEC Electronics, and other various jobs. After working a full day, he would come home and tend to his garden, vineyard, and walnut orchard, which would produce a beautiful crop every year. He also enjoyed making wine! He was an Elks member for many years and usually bartended there on the weekends. He was a very hard worker and was always happy to offer help to anyone. He was strong and was a fighter all the way to the end.

George was predeceased by his wife, Janice. He is survived by his children - Rick (Dana), Ken, and Stephanie (Mike). His grandchildren - Taylor (Joe), Justin, Erik, Blake, Jason (Yumemo), Sol, Lindsey, and his great-grandchildren - Janie and Evelyn. Nieces, nephews, and cousins adored him. He was a man of great character and will be missed by many.
