this sure was a shock to me to hear about Uncle Gilie, I know that many do not know me but I am the first Cindy in the Braley Family.. I have heard many a wonderfull story about his excapades. I was a very young girl the only time I remember meeting Him, but I got the biggest hug and a silver dallor and that ment the world to me at that time, I tried to meet up with the family in 2000 when I took my 2 childeren to Sacramento for 10days but I didnt get to see any of You. maybe god willing and the creek doesnt rise I will get to see You all at a different time.. My Deepest Sympathies

I struggle with what to say about my uncle Gill. Words can not express his greatness to me. There are so many adjectives to discribe Gill. Reverant, kind, thoughtfull, helpfull, the list would continue untill the end of time. But the best word for my uncle Gill would be LOVE! He could project love to everyone he touched. This was his greatness, to me. In closing I would like to leave everyone with the best advise I ever recieved in my lifetime and it was from Gill. It was. When buying a home spend to the max as the payment will get easier. I did, and it did get easier.

As friends of Larry and Carol Backert we were privileged to often be invited to the many family and holiday celebrations they had. Gil, always a mainstay at these gatherings, will long be remembered for his personality and warm smile. And for the immense love he had for his family.
Our deepest condolances to the family.

I will never forget how Uncle Gil would go up to Puffenburger's Store in Franklin, NH and get all of us kids an ice cream every time we came over in the weeks just before you all moved out to CA. I didn't get to see him again until the family reunion in the late 80's...what a treat! I am glad in recent years we kept in touch. He always enjoyed hearing the news and seeing pictures from back here in NH. He called his dear sister Eleanor a couple of weeks ago when I was there and shared the news that he probably wouldn't be with us much longer. It was a hard thing for us to hear but he made it easier with his strength and peacefulness. I feel so blessed that I got to talk with him that one last time. Now when I think of him that song by Vince Gill keeps playing in my mind...Go rest high on the mountain... I know he is at peace with our Lord and that brings me great comfort. Please know you are all in my heart and prayers!

All my memories of Gillie are PLEASANT ! ! ! Meeting him from time to time at Chuck and Lora’s when we were in California or at the BRALEY/BRAILEY Reunions in New Hampshire were always a BIG SMILE and a BIG HUG and a “How ya’ doing?” and really-interested-in-the-answer times. Always ready for a GOOD TALK and I always came away feeling better from having spent time with Gillie. When I was in Porterville taking care of Chuck, he came down several times, I know mainly to see Chuck but I believe also to help and encourage me. Some way into the morning talks! He always had a way of looking at whatever situation for the best possible interpretation. He would call to keep us up with the family- and usually on our birthdays- and brag a little about his family but always interested in ours. We had SO wanted to get to California to visit and hear his first hand stories of growing up in New Hampshire and his memories of the Grandparents for our own genealogy anecdotes.
Many of our conversations centered around the Bible and our Faith and I am so glad he has joined that GREAT CROWD OF WITNESSES that now watch from heaven to CHEER US ON as we run the race yet before US. But HE definitely leaves a big silent spot in our cheering section down here. So all of us will just have to listen a little closer! And attempt to pick up his mantle of ENCOURAGEMENT! ! !
We grieve not as those who have no HOPE!

I regret not getting back to California and seeing Uncle Gil and the family there, but we kept putting the trip off. On the other hand I greatly rejoice that Carol got Uncle Gil and Uncle Lester together for a good time of remembering a couple of years ago, and that she recorded that visit so we would have a video record. I cherish the memories I have now going back some 58 years. Uncle Gil always had a word of encouragement and a spirit that made me want to be around him. I will miss his cheery voice on the telephone and his ready smile when we would see him. We will be with our grandchildren on Saturday, but with you in spirit. Bill

We have a great peace knowing that your dad and grandpa is with Jesus as I right this to my family so far away.
We also lost our parents and know what each of the family members are going though right now.
Isn't it a blessing to know they are all with our Lord?
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of grief and joy. Gilbert is with Jesus. No better place to be.

Words cannot describe how much this wonderful man will be missed. To know him was to love him. He was a man that was full of great wisdom and inspiration. I always felt proud when I went places with him as I was growing up. I loved the talks we would have about life, love, politics, religion, and so on… My grandfather Gil influenced my life in many areas. He has a lot to do with who I am today. I am forever thankful Grandpa.

I will never forget growing up next door to Uncle Gillie, and how kind he was to me when I visited Reno, Nevada, many years later. May God bless and keep him in heaven, where I'm sure my dad - his brother - Freeman, was there to greet him.
