Ginny Owens Obituary

Ginny Owens
October 26, 1948 - June 24, 2022
Sacramento, California - Ginny was blessed with a huge heart that was filled with immense warmth and kindness. She was caring, compassionate and often described as one with an extraordinary soul. Ginny had a way of making others feel exceedingly special, as if they were the the only one in the room. Family and friends meant the world to her, and she always made time to lend an ear. She touched the lives of so many while navigating and balancing life effortlessly. Ginny had the unique ability to always put others first and yet still find time for her own life's goals and interests.
Ginny was born in Watsonville, CA on October 26, 1948 to Eugene and Dorothy Beckstrom. As an only child, she and her Dad shared a love for the SF Giants, riding horses and an uncanny sense of humor. She attended grade and high school in Walnut Creek, CA. Upon graduating from high school she attended UC Davis for her Bachelor of Arts degree and later returned to earn a teaching credential. Ginny taught elementary students at Elk Grove Elementary, Florin Elementary, and Sierra Enterprise Elementary schools. During that time she met Dan and soon after they married in July of 1977. As their family grew, Ginny ultimately put her career on hold, choosing to focus solely on raising their children, supporting them though all of the trials and tribulations that one's life brings.
Ginny enjoyed riding her horse, traveling across the globe and the company of family and friends. Her sense of adventure took her far and wide, leading her to Uganda, Patagonia and beyond. She held her family close and supported them in their own interests and passions along the way. Ginny and Dan have been married for 47 years and are the proud parents of Michael (Charleston, SC), Jeff (Napa Valley, CA), and Amy (Sacramento, CA). They have four grandchildren. Calvin, Caitlyn (Michael and Jill), Rylan, Declan (Jeff and Val) and one great granddaughter Isla (Caitlyn).
Ginny's wish would be for to you hold your loved ones tight, explore your passions, and bring a smile along your adventures.
