ALEC CLAY COBB REIDSVILLEAlec Clay Cobb, 23, of 3420 Country Lane, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at his home. Memorial services will be conducted 2 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Woodmont United Methodist Church. A native of Rockingham County, he is a son of Marc L. and Debbie Merritt Cobb and had lived in Reidsville his entire life. Alec attended Carlisle School in Martinsville, VA and graduated from Reidsville High School. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University with a BA in finance with a concentration in financial planning. A member of Woodmont United Methodist Church, he was an Eagle Scout with Troop 798, a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Appalachian State University, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Annie Penn Hospital Foundation. He was a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments. An avid golfer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and played soccer in his younger years. Alec was a true southern gentleman. He loved his family, friends, dog, farm, his country and his hometown. He was happy to come back to Reidsville to live and work in the town that raised him. Alec was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley G. Merritt. Survivors include his parents, Marc. L. and Debbie Merritt Cobb of Reidsville, his brother Mitchell Cobb of Reidsville, maternal grandparents, Bill and Katherine Merritt of Reidsville, paternal grandparents, Hugh Cobb, Jr. and wife Judy of Reidsville, uncles, Hugh Cobb, III and wife Joyce of Woodbury, TN, David Merritt and wife Libby of Greensboro, Patrick Merritt and wife Sara of Greensboro, cousins, Lauren and Megan, and god-parents, Rick and Sarah Palmer of Southern Pines. Alec was blessed with a great number of close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Annie Penn Foundation Cardiac Fund.
