Guy BROWN Obituary

BROWN, Guy E.
Of Rocklin passed away peacefully on 2/1/11 due to a long illness with complications from Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his wife Carolyn to whom he was married for 62 years. He is also survived by his two sons, Michael Brown of El Dorado Hills, Steven Brown and his wife Patti of Granite Bay, grandson Jordan Brown and great-granddaughter Kylie Brown of Ft. Worth, Texas, grandson Justin Brown of Granite Bay and brother Carl Brown of Metropolis, Illinois. Guy and Carolyn raised their family in Santa Monica and Downey, CA. Guy was a purser and pharmacist mate in the Merchant Marines during WWII and sailed many convoys in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Baltic Sea on Liberty ships, where he was sometimes the only person on board with medical training. His ships were involved in the D-Day invasion and the liberation of southern Italy. After the war, Guy was in the construction business his entire career, retiring as Building Director for the City of Westminster, Orange County. In his early adult years he was active in the Venice Athletic Club in Los Angeles, helping sponsor Pop Warner football teams and a semi-pro football team. He played men's softball league and bowled in numerous bowling leagues. After retiring he and Carolyn moved in 1985 to Rocklin where he spent 15 years playing golf at Sunset Whitney Golf Club almost every day with his friends 'The Bandits.' Not only was Guy a wonderful role model to his sons and grandsons, but he was a friend to all. We were blessed to have known him and he will be deeply missed.
