Hazel Henningsen Obituary

HENNINGSEN, Hazel Leta
Rupley
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Hazel Leta Rupley Henningsen passed away peacefully on October 1, 2006 in the presence of her children and grandchildren. Hazel was born in Placerville, Calif., on February 22, 1917, and lived her entire life in Amador and El Dorado counties. Hazel was the daughter of Elmer O. Rupley and Hazel Askew Rupley, came from a family of seven children, was a graduate of El Dorado High School and was very proud of her pioneer family roots. Her beloved husband Norman preceded her in death by six years and three days. Hazel and Norman were devoted to each other for 60 years, travelled all over the world and thoroughly enjoyed hosting gatherings of their many friends and family at their homes. They were generous volunteers of both time and money for the benefit of Placerville and El Dorado County. Hazel is survived by her daughters Barbara "Buzi" Henningsen and Christine Sanders, grandchildren Piper Higgs, Scott Rogers, and Shelly Sanders, and great-grandchildren Chandler Higgs, Jackson Higgs, Audrey Rogers, and Natalie Rogers, and many members of the Rupley family. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Sequoia Restaurant in Placerville on Oct. 4 at 11:30 AM. Hazel will be interred at a later time during private services for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests considering donations to the Norman and Hazel Henningsen Scholarship Fund, c/o The Rotary Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1791, Cameron Park, CA 95682 or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to CHAPEL OF THE PINES.
