Honey Silberstein Obituary

Honey Silberstein passed away peacefully in Roseville, CA on June 30. Alongside her were her two sons, Kurt and Eric along with her daughter-in-law, Anne, each of her three grandchildren, Kyle and his wife Lindsay, Eric and Alex. Honey lived a fulfilling 84 years. She was born in Sacramento on December 21, 1932 and lived there until she attended San Jose State University (SJSU). Honey attended Sacramento Junior College where she met her husband-to-be George Silberstein. Upon graduating from SJSU in 1953 with a degree in Social Work she returned to Sacramento to work in her field. She married George on June 8, 1957 after he received his flying wings from the US Navy. She and George travelled extensively over the 24 years while making a life in the US Navy. They lived in Iwakuni, Japan; Whidbey Island, Washington; Hanover, New Hampshire; Brunswick, Maine; Newport, Rhode Island; Corpus Christi, Texas, Atsugi, Japan; and Camarillo, California. The family moved often in which Honey made lifelong friends. When the family lived in Japan for 4 years, Honey was busy as a Cub Scout den mother, doing flower arrangements, Calligraphy and traveling. Honey enjoyed travelling with both friends and family to experience unique cultures. Her travels took her to Japan, Italy, London, Hawaii, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Thailand. The family settled in Camarillo in 1974. Honey was busy with volunteer work until her boys graduated from high school. Then she took up a career in real estate for 11 years working in Camarillo. She and George became grandparents along the way and delighted in spending time with their grandsons. After George's passing in 2003, she moved to Roseville to be closer to her grandsons. She enjoyed being part of their daily lives by supporting them in their community and high school activities/sports theater, soccer, swimming and water polo. Honey will be remembered as a caring and giving person who was always willing to help her family and friends. She loved to smile and laugh. Honey was a wonderful mom, grandmother and mother-in-law and always there for us. A memorial service will be held on July 20, at 1030 AM at St. Mary's Church at 1333 58th Street, Sacramento, CA. Followed by a luncheon at 12.
