Ileone Boersma Obituary

BOERSMA, Ileone Rae
After a 2 year battle with cancer, dearest Ileone has left this planet and gone to her new Eternal Home in Heaven. She lived a fruitful life of selfless giving and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. Ileone was born on August 17, 1936, and died November 7, 2007. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University, moved to California in 1960, and married Gordon Boersma on March 25, 1961. She taught school briefly in Southern California, then moved to Citrus Heights in 1969. She was an instructional assistant in the San Juan School District for 25 years, her last school being Dyer Kelly. An active member of Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, she served on the altar guild and as a deacon. Dancing was important to her and she danced every Monday with a line-dance club in Rancho Cordova. She was an active member of the Sylvan Oaks Friends of the Library. She was known for her beautiful smile and warm, caring ways. Ileone is survived by Gordon, her husband of 46 years!, daughter Delise West of NH, grandson Jackson West, her mother Anne (98 years old), and sister Deborah Clark of IL. All are invited to attend her Memorial Service at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church at 1:00, November 14, 2007. If desired, donations to the Friends of Sylvan Oaks Library are being accepted in her honor in lieu of flowers and may be mailed to 6700 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA 95621.

We have such wonderful memories to cherish of a very special friend. We share your grief, yet know she wants us to keep living life to the fullest as she so aptly demonstrated before moving on to live with God.

I have known Ileone almost my whole life, growing up on the same street they lived. Ileone was ageless, beautiful, and kind to all of us. I used to love going to their house and playing on their piano! I will never forget the time (years ago) that her church was giving out food baskets for needy families during the holidays, and she surprised our family with one. She was just a lovely person and she will be greatly missed. Gordie and Delise, we're thinking of you.

Dear Deb and Jim (Dad) and Gordie,
We remember how fun it was to be with Deb and Ileone over dinner during a couple of Chicago visits. We did not know Ileone well but appreciated her humor and enthusiasm.
Our deepest sympathy for your loss.
Love from Joel, Ginny, Leah and Ian

Gordie and Delise,
I will always remember our family's visit with you at your home on the ocean in San Diego in 1968 and cousin Ileone's hospitality and sense of fun! My condolences and love.

I worked with Ileone many, many years ago at Roseville Pest Control. I was saddened to see her obituary. She was a wonderful, cheerful person and I still have the wooden gingerbread men she "tole-painted" for me one Christmas! My deepest sympathy goes out to your family. May God bless you during this difficult time....

Gordie and family,
Years ago we came to visit on our honeymoon trip. What was supposed to be a dinner turned into a three day stay. What a wonderful memory to share that time with my cousin Ileone and you. We will always remember your warmth and the way you opened your home to us. Our prayers are with you and your family.
love Kathy(Bicanich)and Phil Bernards
