Jack Powell Obituary

Jack Powell
May 28, 1942 - July 27, 2021
Elverta, California - Jack Lyle Powell, 79, passed away on July 27, 2021 surrounded by his wife Gena and loving family. He bravely battled pancreatic cancer for almost a year. Jack grew up in Del Paso Heights, graduated from Grant High School, was an Army Vietnam veteran and retired from the Sacramento County Water District. He loved hot rods and driving fast. He was the father of 4 daughters (Mary, Cindy, Sally and Dyan), a proud grandpa of 12 and great grandpa of 2. He will forever be in our hearts. A viewing will be held on August 3, 2021 from 2 PM to 5PM and the funeral will be held on August 4, 2021 at 1PM at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org.

So many memories of you Jack and your sweet family. My mom and Dad truly enjoyed the friendship and fun times with you and Gena. I know you are having fun up there with them again as well as so many others. My condolences to your family that are left here to carry on without you. The loss is great but the memories will last forever. Until we meet again.

I'll miss you Jack! You and Gena were like a second home. Your daughters were like sisters to me and your wife Gena was like a mother to me as well. Thank you for being a great example of a father,a husband, and a man!

Love you all! I'd give anything to be there. Annette, my wife, fell in love with you all, and for many a good reason. Prayers of love and support during this time heading your way. Love you Jack! Truly one of the best men I've ever met.

A classmate of Jack Powell through high school that has learned that one can postpone reconnecting until it is too late. It would have been enjoyable to reconnect to learn what had happened in each of our lives since graduation from Grant so many years ago. My sincere condolences to Jack's surviving family members.

So sad to hear of Jack's passing my heart goes out to his family. I worked with Jack at Sac. County W.Q. for many years. So many great memories, he could always make you laugh or smile, he was a really Good Guy. If they need anything fixed in Heaven Jack's their man.

One of my dad's best friends and without doubt the funniest. I always enjoyed spending time at the Powell Doe Farm. They always made you feel welcomed and like family. I remember the story of Jack and my dad sharing a small camping trailer to sleep in and Jack placing a pocket knife between them... The world is surely a little bit less of a place with Jack's passing. Rest in peace, Jack and prayers for all.
