Jack TRAUB Obituary

TRAUB, Jack Kole
Jack began his life in Sacramento, California on December 13, 1929 as the only child born to John and Lucy Traub. After having lived all over California in the course of his employment, he returned to Sacramento in 1979 where he died on July 15, 2011.

Jack embraced all parts of his life with gusto. He adored everyone he ever met with one exception who shall go unnamed. He was especially enamored of his wife, Ann, and his daughters, Julie and Suzan. He and Ann met on the job at the Department of Fish and Game, his lifelong employer. He loved being a Fish and Game Warden early in his career and dedicated himself with the same enthusiasm that he displayed in the private parts of his life. But if you knew Jack, there wasn't anything that private. Eventually Ann taught him to respond 'I'm not authorized to disclose that information'.

Jack was also proud of his career in the U.S. Coast Guard reserve where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Jack loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with family. One of his favorite pastimes was canoeing and clamming on Tomales Bay. At Jack's request his cremains will be returned to the environment that he loved.

Jack is survived by his wife Ann Porten-Traub, ex-wife Diane (LaFortune) Stuart, daughters Julie (Ron) Perry and Suzan (Alex) MacDonald and five grandchildren: Emilie and Isabelle Perry and Jon, Scott, and Laura MacDonald. He is also missed by his two dachshunds, Bruno and Bonnie.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, August 13, at 10:00 AM at the Campus Commons Clubhouse, 650 Commons Drive, Sacramento. Luncheon will follow. The only thing missing will be Jack's exuberant Tarzan yell.

The family requests that any remembrances be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to Jack's favorite charity www.smiletrain.org which provides cleft lip and palate surgery for children.
