James Cornelius Obituary

James Cornelius passed away Friday, October 6; he was 83 years old. James lived in Sacramento and passed away at his daughters home in Petaluma. Originally from South Dakota, James graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in civil engineering and earned his Masters degree in Public Administration from Sacramento State University of California. He was a dedicated public servant, working most of his 45-year career for California State Water Resources Control Board. After retiring from State service he worked for several non-profits and other local agencies. James is survived by Karin, his loving wife of 59 years; his two children, Susan and Michael and his four grandchildren who will miss their "Opa". A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1615 Morse Ave., Sacramento, CA 95864 at 10:00am on Saturday November 4th. In lieu of flowers donations to the church would be graciously accepted.

The Jack Cornelius family (son of Henry Cornelius, James' oldest brother) sends our deepest condolences on the passing of James Cornelius. James was a wonderful man.

I worked with Jim in the late 1980s at the California State Water Resources Control Board. He was a true honor to his profession.
