James Eastburn Obituary

James W. Eastburn, formerly of Petaluma CA, passed away peacefully beside loved ones on July 28, 2017, in his Rocklin, CA home following an extended illness. James was born Sunday, February 10, 1929, in Omaha, NE to parents Glenn and Fern Eastburn. He grew up with sisters Ruth and JoAnn, attending schools in Omaha, Seattle, and Los Angeles where he attended junior college and became a U.S. Naval reservist, serving on active duty in the Korean War as a quartermaster. Upon return, he was accepted into UCLA, pursuing a degree in Marketing, and becoming a brother in the university's Zeta Psi fraternity. Following graduation, he married his sorority sweetheart, Donna Lee Taylor, and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. In 1958, at age 29, he founded the family business, Millwork Marin, in Petaluma and was a member of the Woodwork Institute of California. In their spare time James and Donna enjoyed camping and were among the first in residence on Lake Pillsbury's West Shore, where the family spent many summer weekends in the cabin he built for them there. Never losing in illness his trademark humor, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Beloved by his family as "Grandpa" and "Pappa Mine", he is survived by his daughters Janet Michelle Eastburn and Jennifer Lynn Gallelli; his adopted son Bill Taylor; his granddaughter Julia Danielle Gallelli; grandsons Ken Eastburn Torres, T.J. Eastburn Torres, Dominic James Gallelli; and sister Ruth. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, son Mark Charles Eastburn, and sister JoAnn Lingrey. A remembrance for family and friends will be held at his home noon Saturday, August 12, 2017. God Bless You, Daddy.
