HASEMANN, James O.
Died peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2005. Jim, as he was known by many, was born in Fremont, Nebraska on January 20, 1939. Following graduation from high school, he served in the Air Force for four years while attending college and eventually moved to Seattle, Washington, to work in the computer business and raise a family. After living in Seattle for many years, Jim moved to the Sacramento area. Jim spent the last several years retired and happily married to wife Polly. Together, they were able to create a beautiful home, travel to many places, and build many happy memories. Both lived near Jim's grown children who were also able to create and share many wonderful memories. Jim is survived by his wife, Polly; sisters Ione Popken and her husband Stan and Judy Samuels; children Mike Hasemann and Michelle Boyd and her husband Erik with baby granddaughter on the way; and step-daughters Kira and Nikki Wagner. Services will be held at 11:00am on January 7, 2006, at St. Mark's UMC in Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Stanford University and sent to The Stanford Division of Bone Marrow Transplantation Research Fund, in memory of James Otto Hasemann, Attn: Gift Processing, 326 Galvez Street, Stanford, CA 94305.

Dear Polly, Mike, Michelle, Erik, Kira, Nikki, Judy, Mom and Dad -

I am saddened by Jim's passing, but thrilled that his life was so full of family and love. I remember spending lots of time with Jim while Grandma was ill, and being there with him in her room when she died. The "adult friendship" that developed in that week's time - that evolution from niece/uncle to parent/parent - is something I will always treasure. Even though miles have kept us from being together, you have all been in my thoughts and prayers during these years as Jim has battled his own illness. I continue to pray for you all, and send my hugs and love. Nancy

Dear Polly and Family,

While we only knew Jim for the past few years, the wonderful testimonies and video at his service gave us many new insights into his life and the person he was. It was especially good to see him in days of better health. It was evident without a doubt that his sense of humor, determination, devotion to family, and peace of heart characterized him throughout his life and in all his relationships, be they family or friend. Jim has passed on, but his memory and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Polly: Please accept our condolences for your loss. Jim and I worked together for nearly 20 years in Sacramento with Tandem, Stratus and IBM. We became close personal friends over that time. Jim is the strongest person I have ever met; quit was not in his language. Jean and I were so glad that he spent the last years of his life with "the love of his life." He will be missed.
