James Morrison Obituary

July 9, 1928-February 14, 2009 Jim has come to the end of his "good long run." Jim died at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon on Valentine's Day, fitting for such a sweetheart of a man. He had been hospitalized on February 12 for emergency surgery. His children were with him during the last hours of his life. We are all certain he is at peace and has already found the prime places to spearfish and abalone dive, the golf courses with the best coffee and straightest fairways, the companionship of the friends of Bill W., the beaches with easy access, friendly sailors and consistent winds and the slopes with the freshest snow. He was truly a man for all seasons. Prior to his move to the Columbia River Gorge area, Jim was a long time resident of Carmichael. He retired from SMUD in 1985. He was active with the Kelp Klipper Dive Club for years. Jim retired from the US Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer E-9 on July 9, 1988. He was raised into the Oak Plains Masonic Lodge on November 22, 1974. The family will gather to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the home of daughter Pat in Stevenson, WA. There will be no formal ceremony. Friends are invited to drop by and share their own "Jim Morrison" stories anytime between the hours of noon and 3 PM. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to Loaves & Fishes, PO Box 2161 Sacramento, CA 95812-2161 or an organization of the donor's choice.
