Carmichael, California - On March 20, 2024, James (Jim) Pantages passed away peacefully In Cameron Park, CA. He was 91 years old. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Pantages, his son, Jim Pantages, Jr., his parents, Thomas and Bessie Pantages, his sister, Kathy Andrade, and his brother, Ted Pantages. Jim was born in Oakland, CA on September 5, 1932. After moving with his family to Portland, OR for several years, he and his family returned to Oakland. From 1951 to 1955, Jim was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. After his time in the U.S. Air Force, he was employed at Aerojet-General Corp., where he remained until his retirement in 1994. In 1962, he met Clara, his loving wife of 60 years. A caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, family was always Jim's top priority. From letting his kids choose how they wanted to be carried to bed each night, to wrestling with them (and the neighborhood kids) on the front lawn, to taking his family on exciting vacations, to playing catch in the backyard and attending sporting events and music concerts, Jim was an incredibly engaged dad. Jim enjoyed his grandkids so much, always present at their sporting events and many other activities throughout their childhood. He also selflessly cared for Clara during the last 20 years of her life, as she suffered from the side effects of her autoimmune diseases. Jim's second love was golf, playing most of his rounds at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course. He later volunteered as a marshal at both Ancil Hoffman and Mather Golf Course. Golf brought Jim many life-long friends and wonderful memories. Jim is survived by his children, Tina (Dean) and Suzanne, his grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Amanda, and Corey, and three nieces and nephews. Thank you so much to his caregivers and the residents at Blissful Gardens, who always made him feel incredibly loved and cared for.
