Jana Walsh Obituary

WALSH, Jana Mauri
Born Nov. 13, 1956, she died on April 11, 2005. The loving wife of Andy Herbert, the loving daughter of Maurice and Jeanette Walsh, loving sister of Dan Walsh (Dorothy) and niece Chelsea and nephew Danny. Wherever Jana travelled her shepherd Meta was at her side. Jana was well-known on the quarter horse circuit and enjoyed showing her horse, Covergirl Lark. As an author, she wrote for many horse magazines and as an amateur photographer had many horse photos published. As an activist, one of her recent causes was to prevent the encroachment of Beale AFB. Jana was a compassionate person, a loyal friend, and her time on this earth has made a difference. A memorial service will be private. Dearest Jana,

Just want you to see my precious Quarter Horse. I showed a picture of my 'buddy' to your Mother at the store today.
I hope this picture is clear enough to see my beatiful Quarter Horse.

Dearest Jana ... I met your loving Mother at a store today. We began speaking about horses. She sang praises to me about how much she loves you and about your devotion to the best breed of horse that has ever been created: The American Quarter Horse. Your efforts to implement "The Horse Expo", among many related events, is one of several that I truely enjoy being a proud owner of an American Quarter Horse.

Thank you for all you have done for the rest of us to enjoy.
How delightful it was to exchange 'horsie' stories with her today. Thank you, Jana, for all you have done on behalf of my favorite breed, The American Quarter Horse. It would have been a wonderful thing had I gotten to know you. With the exception of speaking to your Mother today, I otherwise may have never known about you, I promise you, I will think of you often and more so when I am spending my time in the best way I know how, with my Quarter Horse.

To Jana and The Walsh Family:

JANA: Although I have not seen you in so long, I have vivid memories of the time we worked together at DHS. Tough and opinionated, intensely loving of family and friends and equally challenging of adversaries, you lived it all right out there. I hope that you finally found the happiness and Peace you sought and deserved. Thanks for being my friend. God bless.

WALSH FAMILY: I know that no words can take away the pain of your loss. I only hope that the wonderful memories you all have of her life and knowing that others like me also have fond memories of Jana will bring you some peace at this difficult time. May God bless you all.

Dear Uncle Maurice, Aunt Jeanette, cousins Danny/Dorothy & Chelsea/Danny, and Andy. I am very saddened by Jana's passing. I will always cherish the memories that she and I had, including the Midwest (riding horses on the farm and picking berries in the woods)to the West coast (riding the trolley in San Francisco, and eating fish on the wharf)! We journeyed many miles together, with her 'spirit, her tenacity, and her flair'! But, her journey has just begun...again, and I will continue to light a candle for her. I love all of you, and you are in my prayers.

Peace & Love,

Roxann

I'd wish to express my deepest sympathy to Jana's family and friends. I always felt that Jana was graced with intelligence, extraordinary beauty and high spirits. I liked that she was always true to herself.

The last time I saw Jana was in Lake Tahoe. I thought it was so nice of her to have taken the time to drive to Tahoe to visit me, her cousin, who she barely knew.

Jana’s work on environmental preservation is a shining example of positive civic action for the lives of people in a community, and I hope her activism is continued by others in that community.
