Janice Vine Obituary

Janice Lee Vine

April 1, 1944 - July 3, 2025

West Sacramento, California - Janice Lee Vine, 81, of West Sacramento, passed away surrounded by family on July 3, 2025.

Known for her unwavering loyalty, sharp wit, and kindness, Janice will forever be remembered as the beautiful cheerleader who fell in love with her high school sweetheart, the handsome football player, Jim Vine. Together for more than 50 years, their love story continues to inspire those fortunate enough to be touched by it. They shared a wonderful life together. Jim preceded her in death ten years ago, and those who knew them take comfort in knowing they are together, holding hands, once again.

Janice was a woman who embraced life wholeheartedly and fully appreciated a good poker hand. Her thrill for the slot machines at Thunder Valley, the bright lights of Lake Tahoe, and the laughter-filled poker parties she and Jim hosted at home was well-known. Whether winning big or bluffing with a sparkle in her eye, Janice played with heartboth in cards and in life.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, brother, and many dear friends who will cherish her bright smile and enduring legacy.

At Janice's request, no funeral or services will be held.

Jan Vine was everyone´s friend- absolutely hilarious and so much fun, there was never a dull moment while in her presence. I recently reached out to another co-worker from CalSTRS asking if she had talked to Jan as she had been on my mind. I´m proud to say we were co-workers for many years and friends outside work, i met her kids Jack, Janine and John and attended milestone birthday events during our time working together. Her beautiful red hair and fantastic style from head to toe I still remember and will always make me smile. Hugs, thoughts and prayers to her beautiful children and grand- children.

Janine, JP, Jack, Amanda, Janet & the entire family...We send our deepest condolences to you all! The Vine family, especially my Uncle Jimmy, were a huge part of my childhood which I so cherish! Our families share life long memories which can be found in my mother´s endless photo albums! We call that, Priceless! Janice always looked sharp & had such a beautiful smile that made her eyes twinkle! Last year I was able to join the `West Sacramento Ladies that Lunch´ which Janice was a part of so it gave me the chance to catch-up with her & Janine. I´m also grateful for my prayer time & opportunity to say goodbye to Janice! You will be missed Janice but I know you are over the moon to be back with the love of your life! In love & Gods Blessings, Tiffany E. Lopes Airozo & Denny Airozo
