Jeffrey Thomas Obituary

Jeffrey (Jeff) Charles Thomas

February 14, 1957 - October 4, 2024

Licking, Missouri - Jeffrey Charles Thomas, known by most of us as Jeff, passed away on October 4, 2024, at the age of 67, in Licking, Missouri. Born on February 14, 1957, Jeff lived a life of generosity, integrity, work ethic, and kindness.

Jeff grew up in Sacramento, attending Rio Americano High School, before going on to earn his degree in economics from the University of California, Davis. His professional life was distinguished by his reputation as an exceptional leader, often described by many as the best boss and mentor they ever had. There was no work situation he couldn't handle and he had the ability to infuse some humor just when it was needed most.

Jeff's personal interests were broad. He had a love for cars, dedicating many hours to restoring a classic '72 Chevy truck. An avid reader, Jeff was usually engrossed in a book, which he'd typically finish in a single day. If he loved the book, he'd buy it and ship it to others he knew would love it, too. His love for the San Francisco 49ers was only matched by his enjoyment of cooking and fishing. Upon his retirement, his move from the Bay Area to the Ozarks in Missouri was the fulfillment of his dream of owning a spacious plot of land with a pond, indulging his love for wide open spaces and fishing at his leisure.

Jeff was generous in every way; not just material things but with his time, his wisdom, his friendship and ultimately as an organ donor, a gift that has given many recipients a second chance at life. True to his wishes, Jeff was cremated and opted not to have services.

He leaves behind his sister, Sally Stevens; brother-in-law, Jim Stevens; and nephews, Matthew McCormick and Tyler Woolsey. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Jackie Thomas, and his brother, Steve.

I´m so sorry to hear about Jeff´s passing. It´s so sad to hear when someone who has so much to offer leaves this world too soon.

Jeff was my brother in law; I was married to Steve, his youngest brother. Jeff was a wonderful brother and an exceptional role model. He was committed to his job and and his parents.

Jeff was a caring and generous man; he always made me feel part of the family. If I were to describe Jeff with just one word, it would be "integrity."

Rest in peace my dear brother in law in the company of Steve, Jackie, and Jerry. Your parents were so proud of you!

I´m shocked and saddened to hear of Jeff´s death, and not surprised in the least that, even in death, he made sure he was helping people.

Jeff took a chance on me many years ago and hired me. I had no idea who he was when he interviewed me, and no clue that he´d be my manager, but I´m so glad he did. He turned into a mentor and friend, and a safety guru without fail. He led us quietly and fairly, and by example. He listened to us, took our concerns to heart, and did everything he could to do right by us. I think about him often, and his guidance has made me safer both personally and professionally.

Thank you, Jeff, for everything. My thoughts and prayers for peace in this time of grief are with you, Sally, Jim, Matthew and Tyler. Thanks for sharing Jeff with us!

Saddened to hear this news, Jeff and I were friends in 1970's

Very sad to see an old friend go so soon. Jeff was an inspiration to a lot of the old gang from high school in many ways and especially in music and politics. Jeff and I went to many concerts together and we were keen on getting the best seats. Jeff waited in line at Tower Records at 2:00am in the morning so we could get front row to Loggins and Messina... We had front row to Jerry Jeff Walker and a number of other great acts of the 70's. RIP my old buddy...... We all missed not seeing you around in the later years, but Missouri sounds like a great place you spent you last years.
