Jeri Boone Obituary

Jeri L Boone was born on October 24, 1933 in Duncan, Oklahoma and passed away on January 31, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada with her family at her side. Jeri was a crusader for many causes throughout her life and devoted herself to helping her community. She had a long career at the Muscular Dystrophy Association overseeing the Northern California and Nevada Districts which included producing the local telethon every year. She was a volunteer with the California Federation of Women's Clubs since 1959, and was State President in 1998-2000. She was instrumental in spearheading many safety programs for children, the community and fire fighters including creating Safety Town (now permanently Safetyville, USA in Rancho Cordova), and the first Sheriff Service Center in Rancho Cordova, and fundraising to obtain the first thermal imagers for the Sac Metro Fire Department. In 1994 she was honored as Volunteer of the Year for Sacramento County. Jeri loved to travel with her family including cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. Although she grew up in Duncan, and raised her family in Sacramento, she spent her life living in multiple states and countries including Egypt and Spain. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Ella Vanlandingham, and her husband, James Boone, III. She is survived by her two brothers, Robert and his wife Pat, and Don and his wife Mimi. She will be greatly missed by her children Donna Wilson, Steve Vanlandingham and his husband Matt, Cindy Storelli and her husband Tom, and Randy Gardner and his wife Darlene. She is also survived by her grandchildren Phil, Sarah, Beth and her husband Stephen, Kathy, and Darbi and her husband Brandon, and two great grandchildren Kara and Kaden. A memorial will be held on March 7, 2015. Contact the family for more information.
