Jerome Wilcox Obituary

Jerome C. Wilcox, (Jerry) age 67, of Lincoln Ca. died at home on December 26th 2012 after a long battle with Liver Disease and Diabetes. Jerry was born 1945 in the small town of Jerome, AZ to the late Annetta and Dale Wilcox. Jerry lived in Southern Oregon until age 12 then moved to Modesto CA, to be closer to the entire extended family. Jerry attended Downey High, graduating in 1963. Shortly thereafter he began attending UC Davis, graduating in 1967 with a degree in zoology. Jerry was married to Susan L. Booth in 1971. After completing his undergraduate degree, Jerry pursued his masters in Zoology but was sidetracked by a new passion, computer programming. Jerry spent almost 20 years working at Advanced Information Systems on campus at UCD, involved in some exciting new computer advancements. In 1987 Jerry transferred to the Office of the President for UC, and worked there as the Manager of payroll systems. He held this position until retirement in 2005. Jerry lived in Davis, CA throughout college, and the following 20 years. Following his divorce from Susan, and his transfer to UCOP, he moved to Walnut Creek CA, where he met and wed Marybernadette Kent in 1989. After retiring from UC, Jerry and Mary Bernadette moved to Lincoln, CA. Jerry is survived by his wife Marybernadette, son Carson (Krista) Wilcox, stepdaughters Eileen (Brian) Spangler, Christina Castillo, Allison (Rich) Aster, and Suzanne (Ray) Flores, as well as sister Karen Jones, and nephew Robin Jones, of Modesto, Ca. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 9 girls and 7 boys, ranging in age from 4 to 24! In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his elder son Russell Dale Wilcox in 2010. Oh, Jerry, I was so sad to find out of your passing. We had lost contact after our Davis years- you were a fun, smart roommate and were in my wedding. It sounds like you were very successful in your family and career. Rest well, my big friend.

Jerry,
Your support and dedication to PPS will never be equalled. You wore many hats and all of them very well. I enjoyed working with you and the other PPS programmers on the Payroll Technical Committee. My deepest sympathy to your family. Rest in peace.
