Jimmy Barr Obituary

Jimmy Richard Barr

December 27, 1964 - June 4, 2024

Elk Grove, California - Jimmy Richard Barr departed this life on June 4, 2024. Born in Columbia, South Carolina on December 27, 1964, he was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country honorably for more than a decade on multiple continents. It is in his service that he met his devoted and loving wife Rosemary with whom he spent nearly 40 years. Professionally, he was an accomplished communications expert. After retiring from the military, he rose through the ranks of multiple companies to not only lead, but innovate. He was an avid animal lover as well as a student of history, having a particular interest in the intricacies of World War II. Beyond his historical prowess, it was not uncommon for him to be engaged in passionate debates be they historical, contemporary, or otherwise. A spirited game of pool, darts, and other strategic endeavors were not uncommon for him as he enjoyed the classic music of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald in the background. He is preceded in death by his biological father Robert Dudley Barr, stepfather Joseph C. Pintze, and eldest sibling Danial Robert Barr. He leaves behind to honor his memory, wife Rosemary, loving mother Marianne Troutman of South Carolina, brother Johnny Pintze and his wife Shireen of North Carolina, and youngest brother Omar Troutman and his husband Brandon Stobaugh of South Carolina. He was beloved by many others to include many nieces, nephews, and step nieces/nephews whom he assisted in making their lives more than they thought it could be. A memorial service will be held in the Fall and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to local animal shelters and veterans' causes on his behalf.
