Joel Sterling Grover

1926 - 2016

Joel Sterling Grover was reunited with his sweetheart Benita, November 24, 2016. He was born March 15, 1926 in Chapin, Idaho, the fourth of seven children born to Leo Thomas and Lizzy Leone Grover. He passed away surrounded by his family. Joel grew up farming with his family in Idaho and Utah, served in the Navy in WWII, attended Brigham Young University, and was a school teacher for more than 45 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Survived by his children Joeleen Sumner (Mitchell, deceased), Kathleen Gibbs (Stephen), Peggy Mallon (Phillip), Sterling (Barbara Hamilton), Tamara Hance, and Amy Ambridge (Brad), sister Mary Wood, 26 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Viewing 4:00 - 8:00 on Thursday December 1, at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights. Funeral service for Joel will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, at the LDS church at 6925 Havenhurst Dr., Sacramento. Interment Friday December 2 at 2pm at Mount Vernon.
