DIGITALE, John A.
Age 87, went to be with his Lord on March 9, 2010. John was born to John and Gerna (Kirkwood) Digitale in Jackson, CA on October 10, 1922. The second of five children, John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary; his children, Kirk (Kathy), Garry (Lisa), Mary Louise Lapachet (Jon), and Robert (Carol); eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one step great-grandson. John's sister, Audrey Patton (Bill) preceded him in death, but he is survived by his brother Melvyn (Elinor, deceased), sister Lorraine Cripps (Erwin), sister Gerna Grohl (John, deceased), and by many nieces and nephews. John, a longtime Sacramento resident, served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was part of the advance team that went into Tokyo and set up a communications center there prior to the Japanese surrender in September, 1945. He was an office manager and accountant for 43 years for Luppen and Hawley, an electrical and plumbing company. He enjoyed his job and appreciated his employers and colleagues. John, a wonderful man of faith and integrity, was a respected and involved member of Riverside Wesleyan Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation at Andrews & Greilich Mortuary, 3939 Fruitridge Rd., Sacramento, will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 1 - 5 p.m. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Riverside Wesleyan Church, 6449 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento. Remembrances may be made to the Building Fund of Riverside Wesleyan Church or to the charity of your choice.
