John O'Donnell Obituary
Born on September 30, 1932, in New York City to John and Bridget O'Donnell, John graduated from Iona College in 1954 before serving two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan. Following his military service, he worked as an insurance adjuster and remained deeply committed to his community and his Catholic faith throughout his life.
John was a devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carmichael, where he served as head usher and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Known for his sharp Irish wit and warm sense of humor, he delighted in entertaining family and friends with his stories and jokes. Above all, John cherished his role as a grandfather, finding his greatest joy in his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Catherine O'Donnell. He is survived by his children: Laura Trimmer (Don), John O'Donnell Jr. (Gem), Karen O'Donnell, and Maureen McCarville (Jeff); his grandchildren: Jonelle, Ryan, Kevin, Sean, Kyle, Michael, Tyler, Jake, and Jack; and his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Benjamin.
A Catholic Mass and memorial service will be held in John's honor on Saturday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carmichael, California.
