Mr. ''Jack'' Reader, age 90 passed away of natural causes February 14, 2010. He was born on January 29, 1920 (christened John Nelson) to parents Ray Haler Reader and Bertha Amelia Nielsen in Vernal, Utah. He was the oldest of six children and spent his early years helping his family on their 3,000 acre sheep ranch named "The Sunshine Ranch" in Jensen, Utah. His education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah was interrupted at the outbreak of WWII. John Nelson joined the Navy successfully completing the officer's candidate schooling as Lieutenant Junior Grade. For five years he served as Gunnery Officer in the Pacific Theater aboard 3 different destroyer class ships. At the end of WWII, "Jack" was stationed at Treasure Island Naval base in San Francisco where he met his future wife, Arlene Juanita Richardson. They were married in 1947 and lived in Logan, Utah where "Jack" completed his Architectural and Landscape Design Studies at Utah State. Mr. Reader retired at age 75 as a Senior Architect for Stafford King and Associates in Sacramento, CA. He is survived by 7 children and 5 grandchildren who will always value his professional set of design skills, his proud stories as a Naval Officer and being their father and grandfather. To those who knew "Jack", I say "SIDISO". A private family service is planned and we thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
