John Schaeffer Obituary
"Jack"
Passed away Sept. 22, 2004. He was born Dec. 18, 1929, a native of Olney, IL, and was a resident of Modesto, CA since 1992. Former resident of Sacramento, he was a school administrator, California Dept. of Education, Sacramento from 1954-1991. He was in the Air Force (1951-1953), a member of United Methodist Church, and also taught at the Durante Elementary School District, So. CA. He enjoyed skiing, golf and travel. He is survived by wife, Linda of Modesto; children, Susan Merrill of Tacoma, WA, Karen Somers of San Diego and Robert Schaeffer of Sacramento; stepchildren, Chris White and Kelli Beyer, both of Modesto; 7 grandchildren; brother, Richard Schaeffer of Palmdale; and sister, Carolyn Wiche of Minneapolis, MN. Memorial service Sat. Oct. 2 at 11:30am at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, Modesto. Private burial Acacia Memorial Park, Modesto.

I knew Jack, primarily, through his legacy in the Migrant Education Program. He was a well-loved, highly regarded leader in that program. I'm sad to hear that he's gone and want to send my condolences to Linda and the family.
