Johnny Duncan Obituary

Johnny Duncan
August 22, 1948 - February 26, 2023
West Sacramento, California - John was born in Santa Cruz County and was a long-time resident of West Sacramento, CA. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. He will be forever remembered and cherished by his wife of over 52 years, Helen, his children Keith (Traci), Cristal (Buzz), Holly (Brad) and brother Wayne (Denise). Preceded in death by his parents John and Joyce Duncan and sister Sandy (Gary). He was the proud Papa to eight grandchildren that he adored. John Thomas, Emily, Maria, Robby, Ronan, Lila, Lola and Tommy. John was drafted in March 1968 and served in the Army. He was a proud member of the 173rd Airborne Division. He served as an artillery specialist in Vietnam. John was very active in his children's lives. He coached soccer, little league and softball. He loved taking his family camping, fishing, hunting with a rifle and archery. He snorkeled and also enjoyed scuba diving. He enjoyed a good western and war movies, loved history and enjoyed game night with the family. He always looked forward to family gatherings and welcomed extended family and friends, along with his many nieces and nephews and their families. He had a fun-loving disposition, quick to smile, loved to tell a joke or story and always wanted everyone to have a good time. He enjoyed trap shooting and lunch with the Wednesday crew. He will be deeply missed by many. Services will be held on Monday March 13th at St. Mary Cemetery and Funeral Center 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA. Mass will be at 10 am. Burial immediately following.

Hap, I will always remember you, from our Clarksburg High School days, watching the Monkees together, listening to Aretha Franklin. I consider you a hero of mine, for your service in Vietnam. RIP Hap. Blessings for your family. Dave Routt
