HUNT, Jonathan T.
Nov. 30, 1959 - Feb. 2, 2010
Born and raised in Sacramento, he graduated from El Camino H.S. in 1977. After working in mortgage banking, he changed careers and worked as an I.T. Systems Engineer. He consulted for Hershey's and IBM, then in 1997 joined Sutter Health where he worked for 11 years as an I.S. Analyst and Project Manager. Jon's ability to make people laugh was a true gift. His wit was unsurpassed and his laughter infectious. He enjoyed playing golf and basketball, vacationing in Puerto Vallarta and doting on his precious daughter Alana. Jon enjoyed all music but was a devoted fan of The Grateful Dead. Jon had a wonderful group of childhood friends who remained close throughout his life. Jon left this world far too soon. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jon was survived by his wife Kelli Hunt, his daughter Alana Hunt and his stepchildren Melissa Cartwright and Brandon Cartwright; his mother, Ruth Hunt; his sisters Jill Palumbo, Judy Masuda and husband Steve, Jane Valdez and husband Arthur and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Hunt. A celebration of Jon's life and memorial will be held Friday, February 12, at 2 p.m. at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane in Sacramento.

Kelli and family. My heart is heavy for your loss...all of our loss of Jon. He truly was a man who could fill a room. He loved his family dearly. We often talked of our families together and of course joked about everything. Not sure who was a sharper wit though! He has always held a very special place in my heart and always will. You are surrounded with many amazing people, but if there is anything I or my family can ever do please do not hesistate to reach out. Your friend!

My first thought of Jon was that great smile of his. Growing up during High School, his home was always open and his heart to all!! Solid giver is what I remember. Hunt family, you have something special.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Hunt family during this time. I spent a lot of time sitting near Jon in classes in high school, due to our last names, and definitely enjoyed it. I am so sorry for your loss and Jon's life cut short.

Kelli and family,

I worked with him over several years at Sutter and we stayed in touch since. He was a good friend and greatly loved his family. He will be much missed.

Alana is in my daughter Monica's kindergarten class. Jon seemed to be the parent "face" of the class. He was always there welcoming the children at the door, and talking to his beloved daughter. We attended her birthday party this year and I came away thinking Alana was so lucky to have such wonderful, loving parents. I recently lost my sister and am shaken once again to hear of Jon's passing. Such a tragedy. I know that for me it was the love and support of others that got us through, so hopefully you will have the same support. Briefly knowing Jon, I am sure he had many, many friends. Our thoughts are with you all during this most difficult time. Please let us know what we can do for Alana, play dates, dinners, whatever.

Jon was a part of our department at Sutter for about two years, during which time we appreciated not just his expertise, but also his rapier-sharp wit and his dry humor. You could always tell when Jon had prepared one of his classically humorous emails by the gales of laughter that rippled through the department as each one of us had the chance to read it. He was a really nice man and love his little Alana so much. My prayers have been with Kelli and the rest of the family since I heard the sad, sad news.

My wife Ruth and I are tremendously saddened to learn of Jon's passing. Our hearts go out to Jon's family and many friends. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
I knew Jon since 1989 when we played fast-pitch softball together for 5 seasons. The team was sponsored by the Rubicon Brewing Co where many fun hours were spent with the group of players and fans reviewing the game pitch by pitch.
I was a pitcher and Jon kept me loose the whole game from 3rd base with his great humor and one-liners about our opponents and their fans. I remember Jon used to keep us on the edge of our seats because of his penchant for arriving for the game right at game time. We'd always have to get frequent updates of the most recent "Jon sightings" from fellow players Rod Moseanko and John Hoffman.
Later this core group of friends started playing organized golf "safaris" several times a year which usually included camp outs to add to the fun and fellowship. Jon quickly became part of golf safari lore by earning the moniker "Mr. 56" from the group for taking all of the low stakes prize money(for low score, longest drive,etc).
Jon, I'm proud to have been your friend. We all miss you dearly but you'll be in our hearts always.
