Joyce Bister
April 1, 1939 - December 8, 2020
Cameron Park, California - It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Joyce Arlene Bister on the afternoon of Dec. 8, 2020. She was 81 years old. Joyce was a most loving and devoted wife, mother, friend, and one who had a special touch of spirit and kindness for all she knew. Joyce was battling Dementia for the past few years, and had just tested positive with Covid-19 on Nov 27th. Where just 12 days later, she ultimately succumbed to Covid Pneumonia on December 8, 2020. She peacefully passed away in her hospital bed at the Mercy Folsom Covid-19 ICU Unit, as her two nurses gently held her hands while expressing, on behalf of the family, our love for her. With our deepest and most sincere appreciation, our family would like to express our gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Mercy Folsom Covid-19 ICU unit. Their care, compassion, and dedication to helping create a warm and caring experience during such a turbulent time was remarkable. Thank you for taking such amazing care of our loved one when we could not!
Joyce was preceded in death by her father/mother Orbin and Iva Rumsey; her brother, Jim Rumsey; her sister-in-law, Sally Rumsey and sister-in-law, Darlene Bister Button.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ed Bister of Cameron Park, Ca.; her two loving and devoted children, Jeff (Kristina) Bister and Ed "Butch" (Jill) Bister. She was a loving and proud grandmother "Nana" to Shane, Justin, Owen and Maddie and loving sister to Derek Rumsey and his wife, Diane.
Joyce was a member of Cameron Park Country Club and the Niners for 20 years where she was blessed with great friendship, comradery and shenanigans. She loved playing bridge with her special friends, entertaining, traveling the world with her favorite places being Africa and Jerusalem. She loved living life with her husband, family and friends here in Cameron Park and in the Bay Area. She will be greatly missed by her husband, family and all that knew her, remembering her wonderful smile, infectious laugh, warm caring personality and we will all say a special toast with her favorite, a martini.
As Joyce's soul is shining bright in heaven, her body will be cremated at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery in Cameron Park, Ca. In order to keep our friends and family safe, and to comply with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions and guidelines, we will not be hosting a memorial service at this time. When such a time occurs in the future, we will host a proper memorial to celebrate her life, and the Joy she brought to us all.
